The resolution builds on the “Women Empowerment in Cybersecurity” initiative launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2020.

Submitted by the Kingdom’s Permanent Mission to the UN and international organizations in Geneva, the resolution aims to promote greater participation of women in the cybersecurity sector, enhance their skills, support their professional development and help address the global cybersecurity skills gap.

Addressing the council, Saudi Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila said the initiative demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation, providing technical assistance, and supporting capacity-building efforts to empower women in cybersecurity while respecting national priorities.

Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and President of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, welcomed the Council’s adoption on behalf of the Muslim World League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Both organizations reaffirmed their “pride in the leading role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting international efforts to build a safer and more inclusive cyberspace,” Al-Issa said in a post on X.
