Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - DUBAI — Loud blasts were heard in Dubai and Qatar’s capital Doha for a second consecutive day on Sunday, while Oman was hit for the first time, as retaliatory strikes in response to US and Israeli attacks on Iran widened across the Gulf.

Iran had previously said it would target US bases in the region, but strikes have also hit a range of other locations in Gulf cities.

In Dubai, two people were injured after shrapnel from intercepted drones fell onto two houses, according to a statement from the Dubai Media Office.

Dubai International Airport, the landmark Burj Al Arab hotel and the man-made Palm Jumeirah island all sustained damage, authorities said.

Thick black plumes of smoke continued to rise from the Jebel Ali port area, where one of the berths caught fire on Sunday due to debris from an intercepted missile.

In Qatar, the Interior Ministry said it was responding to a limited fire in an industrial zone after debris fell from an intercepted missile.
