Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” is collaborating with Morrow Collective, the UAE’s leading initiative to coordinate digital art exhibitions that represent non-fungible tokens (NFTs), to host an exhibition of this kind, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the UAE.
The exhibition will open under the title “50/50” at Al Safa Art and Design Library on January 15, to display 50 non-replaceable digital paintings created by artists residing in the UAE, including Emirati artists Khaled Al Banna, Alia Al Jaoud and Dalal Ahmed. The exhibition is considered the first of its kind to feature a group of artists residing in the country.
The displayed works were selected from among the works submitted based on an open invitation to participate in the exhibition, as the diverse mix of these works reflects the unique Emirati social fabric with its multiple cultures. This is the first experience of some artists involved in producing digital artwork in the form of irreplaceable symbols. Participating works bring together a wide range of arts; From 3D art and animation to digital and traditional illustrations, and from collages to photography. The works also cover many topics including humanity, abstract reflections on the human condition, fun, powerful messages, and the experience of visual pleasure.
The exhibition’s realistic look bridges the gap between the worlds of traditional and digital art by displaying art pieces on digital screens. Some of the 50 artworks on display, created by artist Marwan Shukrji and artist Gigi Gorlova, have been sold, and an auction of three Emirati artists is scheduled for the end of this month.
