[Update 10/28]: The third round of IDEA 2.0 has now started. The first results of the second round will now be announced in the OnePlus forums. The top 7 community that voted for ideas and additions is now on its way to the next round. The following updates may find their way to a future OxygenOS build – assuming they are accepted:

If you have an idea of your own that you’d like to see in a future OxygenOS build or on an upcoming OnePlus device, round three has now begun. Of course, there’s no guarantee we’ll ever see any of the community-driven suggestions, but the Chinese company has committed to bringing a number of the top-rated suggestions from previous campaigns to the third-party skin.
The start of the OnePlus IDEAS 2.0 campaign was confirmed in the official OnePlus forums. Fans who think they have the next great concept or idea for a future OxygenOS build have been encouraged.
IDEAS closes the gap between our community and the OxygenOS team. The concept is pretty simple: you submit your idea and if the community loves it, our OS team will go through your concept, analyze it and share their feedback. And when the top ideas fit our software philosophy, they are selected for implementation. It’s entirely up to you: you submit the ideas and vote to select the best.
OnePlus has some pretty simple rules for this second round of IDEAS. You have from September 28 to November 6, 2020 to submit an idea with accompanying sketches, models or video content. The OnePlus community then uses the dedicated IDEAS 2.0 microsite to vote for their favorites. The seven best ideas or concepts get OnePlus Forum XP – useless internet clout – but the overall winner gets their idea in OxygenOS as well as a VIP ticket for a OnePlus offline kick-off event with accommodation.
To be considered, you need to answer a few questions about your proposed role. These include:
- Who are the users?
- What is the proposed function?
- What is the user value?
- If there are comparable features in the smartphone industry, how superior is your suggested feature?
The OnePlus IDEAS 1.0 campaign winner made 20 improvements to OxygenOS to enhance the experience.
If you’re design minded, you can add diagrams and sketches to fully illustrate why your design works, or would work in practice. The winners will be selected by senior members of the OxygenOS software team, with the best idea finding its way to future full OxygenOS releases. Once you have an idea of how OxygenOS could be improved, you can submit your ideas to the OnePlus IDEAS 2.0 website.
