Best controller settings for Black Ops Cold War

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has many different controller options for every type of play style. As Call of Duty has evolved, new control schemes have been added to the game, and Black Ops Cold War can be seen as the culmination of all of these additions.

The default controller settings are probably the best coverage for most gamers. Quick to learn, familiar with other shooter games, and basically the same for many Call of Duty releases. However, if players want to break the skill cap using the general settings, here are a few options to make it easier.

Before giving advice on settings, it should be noted that there is no official answer to what works best. There will always be different factors for different players, and controller settings can be very subjective. That being said, there is a setup that can be used as a great base to play much faster and stay in control.

The controller in question uses the Bumper Jumper Tactical setup. As can be seen from the name, it’s a mix of controller schemes that came up after years of different Call of Duty releases, and now it’s still in the Black Ops Cold War. Many players are already familiar with switching to a tactical controller that swaps the melee button for the squat button. By changing these 2, the squat button can be ready without ever having to move a thumb off the right stick. This means that drop shots and sliding are much easier and more reliable when aiming.

Bumper Jumper Tactical goes one step further in the Black Ops Cold War. The crouch and slide stay on the correct stick, as does the tactical setup built into the Black Ops Cold War. With the bumper jumper, however, the tactical button and the jumping button are swapped. The jump is placed on R1 / RB and the tactic is placed on X / A. The swap allows you to jump around corners and climb while aiming at the same time. If the jump remains on X / A, the thumb must be removed from the joystick and aiming will stop.

Given how much less drop-shotting works in Black Ops Cold War, jump-shotting will be necessary for many players. The Bumper Jumper Tactical may take some time, but it’s worth it. Of course, some players have options like a Scuff controller or a Pro controller with more buttons. In this case, the control scheme may change, but for the average gamer, try Bumper Jumper Tactical with preferred sensitivity settings.
