UFC: McGregor confirms the fight with Dustin Poirier in January 2021

Conor McGregor has announced that he has accepted a fight with Dustin Poirier that will take place on January 23rd.

McGregor’s argument with UFC President Dana White finally seems to have come to an end after both parties failed to agree on a return date for the former featherweight and lightweight world champion.

The 32-year-old went to Twitter to confirm the news but announced that the fight would take place at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

McGregor and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones are known to have a close relationship after the couple dated the Jacksonville Jaguars during a 2018 home game in Dallas.

“I accept January 23rd is open!” McGregor tweeted.

“My goal is to see this fight in the cowboy stadium. Right style!

“Jerry Jones is a friend and the stadium can hold our audience.

“I’ll be ready for Texas and Texas will be ready for my fans! Then Manny. ”

Just hours before McGregor confirmed his return to the Octagon, White confirmed that the organization was unwilling to allow the Irish UFC star to fight this year.

“We offered him a fight, we gave him his own date,” White said ESPN.

“We didn’t have a date this year. We have prepared everything for this year, with world champions fighting for titles. He apparently wants to fight Dustin Poirier so we went to [broadcast partner] ESPN and got him his own date.

“He was offered Dustin Poirier on January 23rd.

“It’s a yes or no answer.”

But for McGregor and Poirier, the January fight will be a rematch for the couple.

McGregor defeated Poirier in 2014 via TKO at UFC 178.
