Parramatta has said goodbye to eleven names from his squad as part of a major purge following the club’s catastrophic exit from the straight-set final.

While many fingers were on Eels ‘top talent, Mitchel Moses, following the club’s loss to South Sydney, Eels’ big changes surround the other end of the talent spectrum with significant changes in 2021.

The Eels had previously announced that the club have resigned themselves to losing prop Kane Evans to the Warriors and Jai Field to Wigan in the Super League and have now confirmed 11 players will not be returning at the start of pre-season training .

Utility Brad Takairangi is one of the established players who have been cut by the team for next year without a new club.

Takairangi played as a replacement for Blake Ferguson in the Aale’s loss to Souths, but fell out of favor in the second half of the year and missed round 12 through round 20 selection.

The promising speedster Jaeman Salmon has also not won a contract for 2021 and is looking for a new home.

The list of players released by the Aalen will be even longer with other players including George Jennings and Will Smith who haven’t signed yet after the 2020 season.

Striker Peni Terepo and hooker Rhys Davies have been released and face an uncertain future as veteran striker David Gower has retired to take up a position in the Eels football division.

The previously announced club Stefano Utiokamanu will join Wests Tigers and Andrew Davey join Manly in 2021.

Development players Watson Heleta and Kyle Schneider have also been released.

“All players in the bubble had to follow strict NRL protocols to ensure the game continued this year,” said Mark O’Neill, Eels general manager.

“Regardless of whether or not the players were selected in the 17 each week, they all contributed to our success.

“We are very grateful for the sacrifices our players have made and we would like to express our sincere thanks to every single member of our squad.”

Meanwhile, Fox League NRL 360 host Paul Kent has blown up the eels after Moses’ penalty shootout put them completely out of the game against the Rabbitohs.

He said Moses’ loss of confidence had spread across the team.

“I think a missed penalty is a symbol of Parramatta’s season,” Kent said of Triple M.

“By that I mean that the one percent in the game are not known. Those little things you just need to cross your T’s and dot your I’s.

“To have no one there who can chase a ricochet off a goal post. I know he could have thrown it away from its location, but the fact that Parramatta had no one there is just a symbol of how things are going in Parramatta.

Parramatta’s unwanted 11: Brad Takairangi, Jaeman-Lachs, Rhys Davies, David Gower, Peni Terepo, Jai Field, Kane Evans, Stefano Utiokamanu, Andrew Davey, Watson Heleta, Kyle Schneider
