Zamalek

- Yasmine El Tohamy - Zamalek were held to a last minute 3-3 draw against Smouha SC in game-week 26 of the Egyptian Premier League.

Due to Zamalek’s heavy schedule, French manager Patrice Carteron is forced to rotate his starting 11 nearly each game.

This was seen today as many traditional starters such as Mostafa Mohamed, Mahmoud Alaa, Achraf Bencharki and Hazem Emam missed out on the squad.

Meanwhile, Mostafa Fathi captained the Whites in his first start in the Egyptian Premier League this season and Emam Ashour also made his return as his 10-match ban ended.

In an organized counter attack, Smouha responded in the 16th minute when Hossam Hassan’s low shot grazed the right post.

In the 18th minute, Abdallah Gomaa faked a cross and dribbled through the opposition’s defense inside the penalty area before passing the ball to Kabongo Kasongo who put the ball into the back of the net.

Three minutes into the second-half, Kasongo took a low long ranger but his shot was easily grabbed by Soliman.

In the 52nd minute, Uganda international, Derrick Nsibambi, found himself alone inside the penalty area but just as he was about to shoot Mohamed Abdelghani made a heroic tackle.

In the 66th minute, Kasongo made the most out of a mistake made by the Smouha midfield and put the ball on the right wing to Mohamed Ounajem.
