Manchester City has Sunday released the first episode of a new three-part series that documents how the club is preparing for the return of Premier League football since its suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Captured by CityTV, City Restart chronicles an unprecedented period in City's history with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the club's players and staff, providing an unparalleled account of the team's return to action, a press release said.

City Restart details the extensive operation taking place across the club including the installation of testing procedures, the team's return to training and the first match behind closed doors. The series follows club staff who are working in these unique circumstances, alongside interviews with manager Pep Guardiola and players.

The first episode launches on Sunday and will be available to watch on all Manchester City's digital platforms, including City+, website, app, YouTube, Watch and Instagram TV.

Episodes two and three will be available to watch on CITY+, the Club's content subscription platform on 16th and 23rd June, respectively.

Episode 1 - 'Operation Restart'

Covering the initial first days of preparing the City Football Academy for the return of the first team squad, including the installation of Covid-19 testing stations and a reconfigured training environment.

Episode 2 - 'The New Normal'

Featuring interviews with Rodri, Laporte and Zinchenko, the second episode sees CityTV capture the return to full contact training and the players arriving at the Etihad Stadium for the first time in months for an inter-squad friendly fixture.

Episode 3 - 'Football Returns'

Capturing the build-up ahead of the Manchester City v Arsenal fixture, this episode gives an exclusive insight into prepping the Etihad Stadium for its first Premier League game behind closed doors.

Omar Berrada, Chief Operating Officer at Manchester City, commented: "Like all organisations across the world, Manchester City is facing a huge operational challenge as we prepare for the resumption of the football season. As well as giving fans an extraordinary insight into how the Club is navigating this difficult time, City Restart will showcase the incredible work our staff are undertaking to ensure that we provide the safest possible environment for everyone."

This series is the latest in-house production from CityTV, following the release of David Silva: Made In Gran Canaria and the Fight 'til the End mini-series, which charted the final 30 days of City's historic 2018/19 campaign.
