Former Egypt and Al Ahly center-back Wael Gomaa has heaped praise on Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer for his performances this season.

Bennacer had joined AC Milan from Empoli for a fee believed to be around €16m, signing a five-year contract until 2024.

The 22-year-old earned his move to San Siro after winning the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Algeria last summer.

“Ismael Bennacer is is one of the best players at Milan this season. He’s continuously developing every game and he’s had a remarkable role in the team,” Gomaa said on Twitter.

“That explains the recent interest of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in acquiring his services.”

Bennacer has been linked with a move to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain this summer according to several media outlets as the midfielder has a reported release clause of around €50m.
