Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - TEHRAN — Iran’s armed forces said Sunday that four senior military officials were killed in US-Israeli attacks that began a day earlier, according to Fars news agency.
In a statement, the military said the officials were targeted while attending a meeting of the Defense Council.
Those killed were identified as Chief of the General Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Pakpour, Defense Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani, and Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Aziz Nasirzadeh.

The statement said the names of other commanders killed in the strikes would be announced later.
Iranian authorities had earlier confirmed the deaths of Shamkhani and Pakpour. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was also reported killed, with a 40-day mourning period declared and an interim council appointed pending the selection of a successor.
