Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - KYIV — Russia carried out a large-scale overnight aerial assault on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, launching 447 missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses, Ukraine’s air force said late Saturday.

In a statement posted on Telegram, the air force said the attack began at 7 p.m. local time (1700 GMT) and involved a combination of air-, ground- and sea-launched missiles, along with strike unmanned aerial vehicles.

Air defense forces shot down or electronically suppressed 406 aerial targets, including 24 missiles and 382 drones of various types, the statement said.

According to preliminary information, 13 missiles and 21 strike drones hit 19 locations across the country, while debris from intercepted drones fell at three other sites.

The main directions of the attack were western Ukrainian regions, including Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne and Vinnytsia, the air force added.
