With votes continuing to count in Pennsylvania, Democratic Hope now has nearly 7,000 votes higher than Donald Trump.

Mr Biden has 253 votes on the electoral college and needs 270 to win.

If he wins Pennsylvania, which has 20 votes for the electoral college, he will be elected president.

In Georgia (16 votes) – where counting continues – Mr Biden now leads the normally republican state with 1,097 votes.

In Nevada, further results are not expected until Friday.

And in Pennsylvania, Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar said “the vast majority of ballots will be counted through Friday.”

She also denied there was any evidence of election fraud, except for one case where a man tried to get a ballot for a deceased relative that was discovered a few weeks ago.

A final result in the U.S. presidential election will take some time, partly because of the large number of voters casting their votes through the mail due to the coronavirus, and also because margins are still razor-thin in some states.

Mr. Biden failed to get the early convincing victories in key destinations like Ohio and Florida or other “ruby” states like Texas under the landslide that some pollsters had predicted, so the bottom line goes on the wire.
