Mary Trump, the daughter of the elder brother of US President Donald Trump, has warned that her uncle is trying to stage a coup, due to his succession of his Democratic presidential rival, Joe Biden.
Mary Trump said, in an interview with MSNBC, that the Republican president is in a position where he has never been before, as he cannot count on an ally who would have rescued him and “provide bail” in exchange for him.
And she continued, “He feels desperate and fails. He cannot do anything from a legal standpoint except to follow the developments of things, helplessly.”
Mary criticized the Republican Party leaders for not doing anything, against the backdrop of Trump’s “false allegations of voting fraud, making legal threats and falsely claiming that he won the vote.”
She added, “This was not just a fright or a lie from Donald, but rather he spoke of an attempted coup. A head of state is desperately trying to delegitimize an election. This is obscene and someone must intervene and stop it.”
Mary Trump is known for her book “Too Much, Not Enough: How My Family Found the Most Dangerous Man in the World,” which she published earlier despite the White House’s attempts to prevent it.
