After a massacre near a synagogue in Vienna, a huge manhunt of 1,000 people is under way in order to find several “armed and dangerous” ISIS armed men.
The Austrian public broadcaster ORF quoted witnesses that several shots were fired shortly after 8 p.m. (7 p.m. GMT) in the center of the capital.
Four people were killed and 17 injured in the attacks in six different locations near the Stadttempel synagogue.
One policeman was also shot and injured. According to the Austrian Interior Ministry, several perpetrators are said to be at large.
A rifleman named Kurtin S, armed with an assault rifle and wearing a fake bomb vest, was shot dead after the rampage.
Before the massacre, Kurtin S announced his attack on Instagram and pledged allegiance to ISIS. He is said to be a 20-year-old dual citizen from Austria and North Macedonia who was previously imprisoned for attempting to travel to Syria.
