The Turkish authorities announced that the death toll from the earthquake, which struck the city of Izmir last Friday, has risen to 81, while search and rescue efforts are still continuing.
Today, Monday, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority “AFAD” said in a statement that 743 people had completed treatment and left hospitals, out of 962 injured in the earthquake.
AFAD stated that 219 people are still being treated in hospitals.
It stated that the concerned teams are continuing search and rescue work in 8 residential buildings that were demolished by the earthquake, which measured 6.6 on the Richter scale.
The administration said that the authorities distributed more than 3,500 tents and 13,000 beds to provide temporary shelters for those affected.
