French security sources reported that one person was injured in an exchange of fire, today, Sunday, in the city of Montpellier, southern France.

The sources pointed out that about 12 people, who were wearing black clothes and equipped with combat weapons, from two criminal gangs, participated in an intense exchange of fire in the Baiad area in Montpellier at about 13:00 local time, wounding one of them and was taken to hospital. According to Russia Today.

The security forces imposed a cordon around the site of the accident, amid the deployment of police and military forces, while the relevant authorities opened a criminal investigation into the case.

French media indicated that some of the participants in the exchange of fire used Kalashnikovs.

Local reports quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the incident, which was spread on social media, with video clips of it, may be due to differences between the two drug gangs.
