After 95 percent of the votes were counted, the OEP announced that the aforementioned Bolivian political party obtained 73 of the 130 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, while in the Senate, the MAS managed to reach 21 of the 36 seats.
For its part, the Citizen Community alliance, headed by Carlos Mesa, became the second political force in both legislative bodies, occupying 41 deputies and 11 senators.
With the aforementioned number of seats, both in the Chamber and the Senate, the Movement Toward Socialism will be able to pass laws and make parliamentary decisions, without being forced to build political alliances with the opposition.
However, the number of seats that the MAS occupies in both bodies of the Bolivian legislature is not sufficient for it, by itself, to carry out constitutional reforms or appoint ministers and other authorities.
In turn, this Thursday the OEP reported that with more than 93 percent of the votes counted, the results of the presidential elections are confirmed, with the MAS candidate, Luís Arce, achieving 54.3 percent of the ballots, followed by representative of the Citizen Community, Carlos Mesa with 29 percent.
