Criteria on disarmament and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction were exchanged by both delegations. The Cuban side highlighted nuclear disarmament as the highest priority in the field of disarmament, and the relevance of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which Cuba was the fifth State to ratify.

It also reaffirmed the right of the peoples to peace and, in that sense, defended the full application of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, which was signed by the heads of State and Government of the region. at the II CELAC Summit, held in Havana, Cuba, in 2014.
