Sheikh Al-Azhar tweets in French in response to Macron

Macron had delivered a speech, Friday, in which he declared that France must confront what he called “Islamic isolationism”, claiming that it seeks to “establish a parallel system” and “deny the republic”, considering that Islam “is a religion that today is experiencing a crisis everywhere in the world.”

Al-Tayyib said in a tweet published in Arabic, English and French, “As we seek with the wise men of the West to promote the values ​​of citizenship and coexistence, they make irresponsible statements that take the attack on Islam as a cover to achieve flimsy political gains. This non-civilized behavior against religions establishes a culture of hatred and racism and breeds terrorism.” “.

In his speech, Macron announced several measures, such as forcing any association that seeks help from the state to sign a charter for secularism, imposing tight supervision on private religious schools and strictly limiting home schooling.

Macron is proposing a bill against “emotional separation” with the aim of “combating those who employ religion to question the values ​​of the Republic,” which is considered a targeting of the Muslim community in particular.

The Islamic Research Academy of Al-Azhar expressed its disapproval of Macron’s statements. He said in a statement issued by him, “Macron accused Islam with false accusations that have nothing to do with the true religion of this religion, whose Sharia calls for tolerance and peace among all human beings, even those who do not believe in it.”

The Synod affirmed its strong rejection of those statements that “undermine all joint efforts among religious symbols to eliminate racism and bullying against religions, stressing that such racist statements would inflame the feelings of two billion Muslims who follow this true religion.”

The council affirmed that “the insistence of some to place false accusations on Islam or other religions, such as separatism and isolationism, is a flawed confusion between the truth of what religions call for a call for rapprochement between people and the architecture of the earth, and between the exploitation of some of the texts of these religions and employing them to achieve downward purposes.”

The council called for “the necessity of abandoning the methods of attacking religions and describing them with odious descriptions,” explaining this as “blocking the path to every constructive dialogue, as it supports hate speech and takes the world in a direction that would eliminate the continuous attempts to reach this world into a society that establishes it. To coexist with its children and eliminate discrimination and racism. “
