The meeting was attended by Tariq Shash, Executive Vice President of the Agency for the Development of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises, Rafat Abbas, Head of the Central Sector for Non-Financial Services in the Agency, Yasser Helmy, Head of the Information Systems Sector at the Agency, and Ahmed Reda, Assistant Minister for Industry Affairs.
The minister said that electronic commerce has imposed itself on all economic aspects in light of the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid 19), noting that the ministry is working during the current stage to develop the e-commerce system for all industrial sectors with the aim of enhancing the popularity of the Egyptian product in the local market and increasing Egyptian exports. In this context, Jameh explained that the ministry is seeking to create a comprehensive electronic platform not only to display products, but to display the manufacturing capabilities available to all factories spread across the republic with the aim of supporting local supply chains and meeting the factories’ needs of these products, in a way that supports the cooperation system in the field of B2B business reconciliation between Egyptian industries Across the e-commerce ecosystem.
For her part, Dalia Seif Al-Nasr, Director of Public Policies for the Middle East and North Africa at Amazon International, confirmed that the company aims to start manufacturing its products in the Egyptian market as it is a strategic industrial hub in the Middle East, using the advanced industrial technologies of Amazon International.
She pointed out that the new Corona virus (Covid 19) contributed to the increase in the company’s investments, in addition to the increase in the number of employees by 30%, pointing out that Amazon markets the products of 26 sectors around the world and employs 80 thousand employees in its branches spread around the world.
