The spread of the COVID-19 has descended an unprecedented pall of gloom over the globe.

The trauma invoked by a pandemic has supplanted hope with bleakness.

During these distraught times, a pianist, in an Abu Dhabi hospital, has been playing music composed by her as a tribute to healthcare workers fighting the pandemic and to raise the spirits of the patients and visitors at the hospital.

The “Music of Hope” was composed by the pianist, Elenora Borisova aka Nora Lee, at VPS Burjeel Hospitals. The music resembling the neoclassical style is emotionally appealing and inspiring.

"This is my tribute to all doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals across the world who are engaged in the battle against COVID-19,” she said.

"Working in a hospital, I am a witness to the selfless services offered by doctors and nurses during these days. They are working for longer hours, attending to each patient. I am astonished at their commitment. They do not have any complaints,” she added.

Being an artiste working in a hospital, Elenora said, the only way she could contribute to the fight is by boosting the morale of the healthcare professionals. "I wondered how I could help doctors, nurses and patients. It then struck me why don’t I compose music for them? I thought music would soothe their minds and help them fight stress.”

The noble effort of the pianist has become popular as many patients visiting Burjeel Hospital are now coming up with praise for her. The “Music of Hope” is helping patients and visitors to keep their anxieties at bay and relax.

"Many patients come to thank me. Some even request me whether I could play their favourite music. I happily do it. I am elated that I could play my role in helping people during these trying times. It means a lot and adds value to what I do,” she added.

John Sunil, CEO of Burjeel Hospitals, said that the outbreak of the viral infection has induced stress and anxiety among people. "Cut-off from their regular lives, the pandemic has affected many. Even in hospitals, patients with a fever are isolated. Doctors and nurses attend to them wearing protective gears. Here is where we see the magical power of music,” he said.
