The UAE Health Ministry announced 150 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases to 814. The new cases identified are in a stable condition and receiving treatment.

The Ministry said a 62-year old Asian expat and a 78-year old GCC national who tested positive for COVID-19 died due to complications related to chronic diseases. This brings death toll to eight.

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.

The ministry advised members of the general public to adhere to the preventative health and personal hygiene measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Dr Farida Al Hosani, UAE Health Sector’s spokesperson said we are proud to announce the launch of the biggest laboratory, built outside China, for detection and diagnosis of COVID-19 in the United Arab Emirates.

Dr Al Hosani urged the public to follow health advice and pay attention to groups at higher risk, particularly the elderly. We should abide by the physical distancing guideline for their health and safety.

“We highly appreciate everyone’s commitment to work safely from home. Let’s maintain our productivity while adhering to the preventive measures,” Dr. Al Hosani said.

Al Hosani said “Please join us in confronting this global challenge and be part of our campaign.”

It is noted that basic protective measures such as the frequent washing of hands, covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing with a tissue or into ones elbow, and to seek early medical care if symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing arise.
