Emiratis and residents took to Twitter to wish Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed a happy birthday.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces turns 59 today.
Born on March 11, 1961, in Al Ain, Sheikh Mohamed is the third son of the UAE's Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed.
After finishing his schooling in the Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, graduating in 1979.
He later oversaw the advance of UAE forces into Kuwait against the Iraqi occupation in 1991 as part of the Peninsula Shield Force, the military arm of the GCC.
He is loved for his leadership, connecting with people in the country and for his global philanthropic projects.
Last year in December, he visited Ayesha Al Mazrouei, a little girl who he missed shaking hands with during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
He pledged financial support to Australia after the bushfires ravaged the country last year.
Most recently, he oversaw a mission to fly hundreds of foreign nationals out of China after the coronavirus outbreak.
The humanitarian operation was conducted in co-operation with the Chinese government.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, penned a beautiful poem for the Crown Prince on his special day.
Many took to social media to wish him well.
