The Municipality closed a salon in Palm Jumeirah, two laundries in Al Raffa, and a food establishment in Saeed Port for non-compliance with physical distancing and wearing masks in addition to violating health and personal hygiene instructions.

Municipal inspectors carried out 146 inspection visits and fined 5 institutions and warned other 16.

According to the municipality, the total compliance rate for all institutions amounted to 83%, while the number of institutions which met the requirements and measures of public safety amounted to 121.

The municipality said they are keen to follow the precautionary and preventive measures during supervisory rounds on institutions, which include requirements to be followed, including: commitment to social distancing, cleaning and disinfection at all times and recording them, commitment to wearing masks and gloves, and checking the daily follow-up records of workers’ health.

Moreover, the Dubai Municipality recently closed a salon and three food establishments for their failure to comply with the precautionary and preventive measures against COVID-19. This was during field visits carried out by the municipal inspectors who conducted 2,348 visits. During those visits, the inspectors fined seven establishments, and issued warning notices against 37.

The number of establishments that were found meeting the public safety requirements and fully adhering to the preventive measures was 2,341, according to the Dubai Municipality.

Dubai Municipality recently won Ideas Arabia international award, organised by Dubai Quality Group, in the “Sustainability” category, through the initiative “Applying Artificial Intelligence System to Monitor and Control Wastewater Treatment Processes at Jebel Ali Plant.” Eng. Mohammad Al Rayes, Director of Sewage Treatment Network and Plants Department at Dubai Municipality, said: “The initiative aims to implement a smart and innovative system that allows automatic and self-control and tuning of the aeration level of treated waste water, which contributes to improving the quality of the water produced after treatment, which will be reflected in a positive way for raising the level of customer and beneficiary satisfaction.”
