Speaking to Al Khaleej Today, Staff Col Yousef S.Y. Al Zaabi, director of Special Forces at the RAK Police, said they were all shocked when they learnt about the tragic crash that happened on the Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Road.
"He could not avoid colliding with the car that jumped in front of him," Staff Col Al Zaabi said.
The senior officer added that Sheikh Saqr had bought the sports motorbike he rode just three weeks ago.
'A real warrior'
A graduate of the Sharjah Police Academy, Sheikh Saqr was a first lieutenant who joined the Special Forces Squad of the RAK Police three years ago.
"It is a big loss. He was a real warrior whom you would always see going to or coming back from training," Staff Col Al Zaabi said.
"In a short span of time, he managed to get along with his colleagues and became a role model for all of them with his discipline, vibrant soul, and dedication."
Someone like him could have relaxed, but he never did, he added. "He never missed a single training, contest, tournament, or championship. He was righteous, kind, fit, disciplined, ambitious, and a gentleman.
"I was planning to let him lead the Special Forces team because of his special and advanced skills, but he was gone too soon."
48 hours before crash
Forty-eight hours before the accident, the officer met Sheikh Saqr who said he was participating in a sports competition in Dubai, taking the place of a colleage who could not continue.
"Despite his back pain, he insisted on chipping in and supporting the RAK Police team. He always had a spirit of a fighter, and kept developing himself in all aspects of life."
Sheikh Tariq even told him he hoped his backache would go away soon so he could be at his best for the team.
"I advised him to get some rest, but he insisted to be with the team," Staff Col Al Zaabi said.
