A joint police operation in UAE busted two gangs of expats involved in phone scams, a statement issued by the Abu Dhabi Police on Monday said.

In a press conference today, Abu Dhabi Police revealed that it had arrested two phone scam gangs in co-operation with the and Ajman Police forces.

They arrested a total of 28 Asian men, who were using phone scams to steal savings and bank assets of residents in UAE.

Lieutenant-Colonel Dr. Salem Huwaimal Al-Amri, Director of the Criminal Investigations Department, urged the public to beware of such frauds, as such scam gangs often use various methods to swindle their victims.
 
He pointed to the Abu Dhabi Police's eagerness to educate the public about these matters on social media, stressing the importance of public cooperation in arrested those involved in such activity.
 
He reminded the public to avoid dealing with unknown numbers, maintain the confidentiality of their personal and financial information and report suspicious activity to the police by either visiting or calling their nearest police station.
