A photo allegedly showing a man being escorted out of Dubai Mall due to coronavirus has been dismissed by authorities, after it made rounds on different social media platforms.
According to an Emaar Malls spokesperson, Emaar "can confirm that the image circulating of an individual being escorted on a stretcher from an unspecified location is neither The Dubai Mall, nor any Emaar property as falsely claimed."
"Emaar is closely monitoring the news of the Coronavirus outbreaks reported in the UAE. Across its destinations, Emaar is following the necessary and precautionary measures outlined by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) and other relevant authorities."
Dr. Hussain Al Rand of MoHaP clarified, "There are rumours about thermal scanners in shopping malls and other public locations. I can confirm that this is not true. We are only screening passengers at UAE airports."
