Oculus Quest 2: the V23 update is being deployed, a lot...

During the last Facebook Connect, two months ago now, some features for the Quest 2 had been announced and some of them will arrive with this new update V23. First is the connection via theOculus Link to play with his games VR from his PC which leaves beta mode to become a native and official function. It is the same for the support of 90 Hz. Finally, it will soon be possible to give gifts to other users and a new one tracker System level fitness will monitor one’s physical activity. These new features are in addition to the possibility of sharing the video stream from your headphones via a browser, which we have already discussed here.

With the end of the sale of Rift S, it’s the Quest 2 which now provides support for PC games at Oculus. For this, the cable Oculus Link is the solution proposed by Facebook for a year now. However, until this day, it remained an unfinished possibility which was still in beta. With the V23, it becomes a native function which has an interface allowing to adjust the graphics parameters from the application Oculus on PC. It is thus possible to switch between 72, 80 or 90 Hz refresh rates and the graphics quality will be automatically optimized for our graphics card while leaving hackers the possibility of adjusting it to their liking. Other novelties, such as the improvement of this interface, are planned in the coming months.

The native 90 Hz mode, which brings more fluidity, was in beta and launched only in the menus, the browser and theOculus TV. It is now enabled by default everywhere, and developers can officially offer its support in games and apps. The first titles that will take advantage of it will be SUPERHOT, Echo VR, Beat Saber, Vacation Simulator, Job Simulator, Racket: Nx and Space Pirate Trainer.

The most original addition is, without a doubt, Oculus Move, the tracker the fitness which will capture our efforts (calories, duration) throughout the day, whether through dedicated applications or simply through the games we play. It will be possible to set daily goals in order to boost one’s physical activity in a fun way, especially in these times of confinement. Finally, it will soon be possible to buy games to give to friends or family. Function App Gifting, will be available on theOculus Store (via a browser or the mobile application) and will allow you to do so simply through an e-mail address. If ever we were to receive a gift already in our library, it will be possible to exchange it for another just as easily. This is scheduled to happen before Black Friday.
