This is how PS5 game sharing works

One of the most important things people want to know when they pick up a new console is how game sharing works. Whether you share a console with a loved one or with another part of your home, it’s always good to know how the process goes.

HOW TO PLAY ON PS5

The good news is that PS5 handles game sharing in much the same way as your PS4 does. Instead of the primary system, it is now called “Console Sharing and Offline Playback”. Instead of one of your consoles being the primary PS5 for your account, you can now turn on Console Sharing and Offline Playback for a PS5 console.

This means that the one PS5 console that has this enabled can play those games offline for free and other accounts on that system can also play all the games (and earn trophies, etc.). For PS5s that have this PSN ID on their system but have not enabled console sharing and offline playback, you must always stay online while playing the game and also log into the PSN account that owns the game.

WILL PS5 GAME SHARING AFFECT PS4 GAME SHARING?

So the good news is that it doesn’t. These are completely independent of whether the PS5 is set as the primary console sharing and offline playback account. So you can set a PS5 as your primary account and still set a PS4 as your primary account without affecting each other. It also seems that you can be signed in to a PS4 and PS5 at the same time without signing out of each other.
