Pokemon Go has brought back another fan favorite, Legendary, for a limited time. As part of the game’s anime tie-in event, Lugia has returned to the five-star raids through November 16. The legendary diving pokemon has surfaced a few times since its first debut in 2017, but it’s worth catching again, even if you already have one, this time around, it knows the mighty flight train Aeroblast. If you need help capturing the Legendary, we’ve rounded up some tips to help you defeat and catch Lugia below.

Lugia Raid Stunden

Lugia will return to five-star raids on November 5 starting at 1:00 p.m. (PT) / 4:00 p.m. (ET) and staying in-game at the same time through Monday, November 16. Since raid battles do not follow a set schedule, Lugia raids will take place regularly during the Legendary’s stint as raid boss. However, you will receive a notification within the game when you start at a nearby gym.

As always, your best chance to meet Lugia is at Niantic’s weekly Raid Hour event, which runs every Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. There will only be one Lugia raid hour before the legendary Pokémon leaves the game. that takes place on Wednesday November 11thSo don’t miss the chance to get them.

Lugia weaknesses and counters

Although it lives on the ocean floor in Pokemon lore, Lugia is actually a psychic and flying type who gives him a handful of weaknesses that you can take advantage of. Its psychological typing means it is prone to dark and Ghost Pokemon, so some great monsters to use against it Tyranitar, Weavile, Darkrai, Giratina, chandelier, and Gengar. However, keep in mind that Gengar is also partial poison, meaning that if Lugia knows a psychic attack, it will take very effective damage in return.

Lugia’s flying input opens up a few more weaknesses, namely to Electric, ice, and Rock Pokemon. Electivire, Raikou, and Zapdos are some great electric guys; Mamoswine, Glaceon, and Articuno are great choices when it comes to Ice Pokemon; and Rhyperior, Terracion, and Gigalith are some of the game’s strongest Rock Pokemon. Alolan Golem is also a great choice as it is both rock and electric.

Types to Avoid

While Bug Pokemon usually have an advantage over Psychic types, you should avoid using most of them against Lugia. Not only do they take super-effective damage from Aeroblast, their bug attacks only deal neutral damage to Lugia thanks to its flying input. Fighting Pokemon are also weak for flying moves, while Poison Pokemon takes extremely effective damage from any Psychic attacks Lugia has.
