Avatar is postponed for a 2022 release

Missing the magnificent planet of Pandora? Unfortunately, you won’t be able to set foot there now. Indeed, like the second film, Avatar is again pushed back. Ubisoft itself officially announced this postponement. The game is therefore scheduled for 2022.

As a reminder, this title is none other than thea direct sequel to Avatar: The Game, released in 2009The game was to land in the same period asAvatar 2 at the movies. However, the bad news comes with a good thing, as other studios are going to take care of the development, as well. Massive Entertainment (The Division, The Division 2, …) will work in close collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment de James Cameron. The latter is an independent film production studio working on the film with the director.

In recent weeks, a lot of Ubisoft titles have the right to carry over. It’s the case for Far Cry 6 et Rainbow Six Quarantine which are postponed until later in 2021. However, for Avatar, no reason was mentioned. However, as the game was originally slated for release around the same timeframe as Avatar 2 it is highly likely that the movie’s postponement influenced the game’s postponement.

Avatar a forgotten video game?

Avatar: The Game was a prequel to the eponymous first movie. More precisely, it takes place two years before the cinematographic work. Indeed, your goal was to explore the Blue Lagoon region of Pandora. As you explore, are you made to make a choice, fight alongside human soldiers, or as Na’vi? The sequel, therefore postponed to 2022, will arrive more than ten years after the first opus.

Despite everything, Avatar remains an enigma. So, as soon as we have more information, we will communicate be sure. In the meantime, if you want to join Pandora, you will have to play the first opus or watch the still cult film by James Cameron.
