The iPhone with the replacement hardware appears to be having problems rejecting the replacement part. iFixit then fixed problems with the camera refusing to respond and problems with the ultrawide camera.
As expected, this is not a good sign of potential third party repairs in the future. Apple has not commented on whether this is a short-lived issue or even a glitch that appears to only affect the iPhone 12’s cameras. Given that Apple’s own repair notes indicate that repairs to cameras and displays require Apple’s proprietary system configuration app (previously only intended for battery changes), stricter regulations on what non-Apple technicians can solve seem immediate imminent.
