The ‘EV revolution’ is not a distant dream. India is already starting to catch up and a number of luxury car manufacturers are targeting the market with their top-of-the-range battery-powered vehicles. Mercedes EQC as a fire starter has already penetrated the market above all else. It is the first electric vehicle in India’s luxury car landscape that will pave the way for future battery-powered luxury cars in 2021. Here is the list of high-end battery-powered cars to be launched in the country next year.

Audi e-tron:

Audi e-tron is the company’s first all-electric SUV and is being considered for a launch in India in 2021. Audi boss Balbir Singh Dhillon has confirmed in the past that the automaker plans to bring the e-tron to India. “All of our options are open. We are considering bringing the E-Tron here sometime in 2021, ”said Dhillon

The e-tron is a fully electric SUV that is already available in several markets around the world. Audi also announced that it managed to sell 17,641 units of its battery-powered SUV in the first half of 2020.

Jaguar I-Pace:

Jaguar Land Rover’s country manager recently told Reuters that the company plans to launch its battery-powered SUV in India in early 2021. Earlier this year, the automaker also unveiled the updated 2021 version of the battery-powered SUV, which comes with a new fast, intuitive vehicle infotainment system and faster charging capability. The I-Pace now has three-phase AC charging at home and even more driver-centric technology.

Charging the Volvo XC40:

Volvo India plans to run the XC40 Recharge EV in the second half of 2021. It is the first of several electric cars from the Swedish automaker.

The XC40 Recharge uses the same CMA platform as the regular model. It is claimed that it can travel more than 400 km on a single charge on the WLTP cycle and can be charged to 80% in about 40 minutes using a fast charger.

“Volvo is committed to sustainable mobility and plans to offer the full range of electric cars in India. Our first battery electric vehicle, Volvo XC40 Recharge, is coming to India in the second half of 2021, ”said Charles Frump, General Manager of Volvo Car India, told HT Auto.
