A Kmart $ 99 coffeemaker outperformed a $ 4,500 espresso machine in consumer tests.
The Anko espresso machine achieved higher results than some more expensive models from big brands like DeLonghi, Miele, and Breville.
With a score of 68 percent, it was completed in front of a $ 4,490 machine from the Swiss company Jura and several others priced at more than $ 1,000 each.
The consumer tested 38 espresso machines and rated them for taste, ease of use, milk foam and temperature consistency.

Breville’s Barista Express ($ 796) took first place, followed by the Sunbeam Mini Barista Espresso Machine ($ 289) and Breville The Dynamic Duo ($ 1,799).

The consumer test revealed two problems with the Anko machine – it has no cup warming plate or no standby mode – but is highly recommended by Kmart customers.

Consumer results are in line with Australia’s Consumer Watchdog Choice, which found the machine outperformed an AU $ 949 (NZ $ 1,046) model in taste, consistently pumped hot coffee and looked good.
