Thank you for reading the news about Apple marks October 13 for special event; new iPhones expected and now with the details

Aden - Yasmine El Tohamy - Apple has made it official: Its next special event will be on October 13, and the new iPhones are expected.

The tech giant on Tuesday sent out invites to the media, with their usual minimalistic - but telling - message.

The event will be streamed on Apple's website at 9pm UAE time next Tuesday.

"Hi, Speed," was the message splashed on the invite - which, for all intents and purposes, alludes to the expected introduction of a 5G iPhone.

The iPhone 12 series is expected to be unveiled at the event comprising three models - 12, 12 Pro and Pro Max. Alongside that, reports have surfaced that an 'iPhone mini' will also be launched.

Apple does not comment on rumours or speculation.

The company was forced to postpone its usual September iPhone unveil due to the global coronavirus pandemic that has upended supply chains.

But in the lead-up, Apple has performed remarkably well: It reported blowout results in its last financial quarter thanks to its services segment. That led to its market capitalisation hitting the $2 trillion mark.
