Today, Wednesday, the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization issued an official statement, in which it announced that Ahmed Said Youssef, known as “Karim Bambu”, Al-Ahly Bank player, was banned for four months for violating anti-doping rules.

Karim Hassan Shehata, director of football at Al-Ahly Bank, had announced, a few days ago, the suspension of Karim Bambu, the team’s striker, for taking a prohibited substance. See details here

According to the statement issued by the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization, a sample was withdrawn from the player on June 27, and the result of the sample was positive for Sibutramine, a specific stimulant according to the banned list 2021 and is considered prohibited in competition only.

The organization added that after reviewing the case completely, the hearing and sanctions committee decided that the drug that the player used under the supervision of the team doctor was used unintentionally and was not used to increase physical performance.

Accordingly, the player was suspended for four months starting from the fifth of September 2021.
