- Yasmine El Tohamy - Egyptian bodybuilding star Mamdouh Elssbiay ‘Big Ramy‘, has finally won Mr. Olympia’s 2020 title that took place in Orlando, Florida, the United States early on Sunday.

This was Big Ramy’s seventh Olympias, with his lowest placing coming back in 2013 [his debut], where he finished eighth, meanwhile, his highest placing, prior to 2020, was in 2017, when he finished second.

The Egyptian also claimed the People’s Champ Award — an award voted on by the fans — and with his achievement on Sunday, Big Ramy became the only bodybuilder to win both awards.

Mamdouh managed to beat off competition from Brandon Curry and Phil Heath, snatching the gold medal as well as being awarded a check for $400,000.

“I wanna thank all the bodybuilding fans in the world for the love and support I’m receiving,” Big Ramy posted on his official Instagram account.

“I had many setbacks this year with a show canceled due to corona, and a positive test.

“I also lost my main supplement sponsor earlier this year(will give more details in the coming days) but all that mattered is I kept working hard for that dream to make my fans happy. LOVE YOU ALL,” he added.

He becomes the 16th man to win Mr. Olympia since the competition was founded in 1965 and the first non-American to win the title since British champion Dorian Yates in 1997.

Mamdouh also became the only second Arab to win the award in over 35 years after Samir Bannout of Lebanon who won it back in 1983.

In second place after Ramy came Brandon Curry, and was followed by Phil Heath, Hadi Choopan, and William Bonac.
