The NFL player who wanted to play for Chivas

Sergio Castillo, kicker of the New York Jets, confessed his dream of playing for him Guadalajara.

Currently, in his first opportunity in the NFL, the tricolor born in La Joya, Texas, reported that he lived on the border between the United States and Mexico as a faithful follower of the Sacred Herd.

“I grew up playing soccer and was Chivas at heart, since I was little. From Oswaldo Sánchez, Gustavo Napoles, Ramoncito Morales ”, Castillo commented in a teleconference, prior to this Sunday’s game against the Chiefs de Kansas City.

“My dream was to play for Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara. When I entered the sixth year [de primaria] I asked my coach what I had to do to play at a professional level and he said, ‘Two things: build it up and get good grades,’ ”the Jets kicker continued.

“There I realized, at the age of 11 or 12, what I had to do to get what I wanted. I started working from there, mostly at school ”.

The Texas born to Mexican parents, debuted last Sunday in the NFL, as a New York kicker. At 29 years of age, Castillo – with experience in the Canadian league – was given the opportunity, after the injury of starter Sam Ficken.

In his presentation, he hit the only chance he had for a field goal, 29 yards.
