WEATHER

On Saturday morning wet and very windy with rain showers. Heavy and potentially harmful gusts operating for some time with weather warnings. In the afternoon it is still windy with a mixture of dry spells and heavy showers. On Sunday morning it will rain in a northeasterly direction, so it will stay mostly dry for a while, with bright spells and only the isolated shower. However, in the afternoon and evening, another heavy rain will spread across the country. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees with fresh to strong southwest winds, which may increase to storm strength. More on MET.ie.

Armagh v Tyrone, Kingspan Breffni, 7:30 p.m.

Ulster teams Armagh and Tyrone start the 2020 TG4 Seniors Championship at Kingspan Breffni in Cavan.

Armagh has the psychological advantage of having a major win over the Red Hands in the last Ulster semi-finals.

Aimee Mackin (above) is back from injury and for Armagh in the form of a free kick. He is a great threat to Tyrone.

Gerry Moanes Tyrone will be looking to improve his defense and they showed in last year’s championship that they are a very capable team that made it to the quarterfinals while scalping Donegal along the way.

Caroline O’Hanlon has been a massive leader in Orchard County for many years. Although she is known as a midfielder, here she is in the forward line.

Captain Neamh Woods will lead the Tyrone indictment to seek revenge for this province loss.

Armagh: Ein Carr; S. Marley, C. McCambridge, C. McKenna; T. Grimes, B. Mackin, G. Ferguson; N Coleman, A Bellew; C Marley, A McCoy, A Mackin; C. O’Hanlon, K. Mallon (Capt.), E. Lavery.

Galway vs Tipperary, LIT Gaelic Grounds, 3pm – LIVE on TG4

This game features two teams that played on the All Ireland final day at Croke Park last year.

Galway lost in the senior team against Dublin, while Tipperary defeated Meath to get the inter-title.

The counties met earlier this year, with Galway scooping a 1-12 to 0-04 win over Premier County in the Lidl National League.

Galway starts with nine of the teams who fell in the final hurdle in 2019, while the pick list contains ten of the teams that started the intermediate decision last year.

Tracey Leonard is the best player in Galway attack, but Lynsey Noone and Andrea Trill are also young stars to watch out for.

Tipperary will reach out to Aishling Moloney (above), Intermediate Player of the Year 2019, for inspiration.

Galway will start as favorites, but Tipp is a dangerous opponent in this live TV game.

Galway: L Murphy; F Cooney, S. Lynch, S. Burke; L Coen, C Cooney, N Ward; O Zivil, L Ward (Capt.); M Seoighe, M Glynn, L Noone; Ein Triller, T. Leonard, L. Hannon.

Dublin v Donegal, Kingspan Breffni, 5pm

Masters Dublin begin their quest for a four-in-a-row game with a crucial game against Donegal.

The Ulster side defeated Dublin at Croke Park on the opening day of the Lidl National League campaign last year before falling out of their All-Ireland qualifying group and losing to Mayo and Tyrone.

Dublin are calling 12 of last year’s All-Ireland Finals, but it could be a difficult task for them.

Maxi Curran’s Donegal squad can do a great job any day but it will take something special to unsettle Mick Bohan’s Dublin.

The Dublin team is full of talent and has enormous strength to fall back on when needed.

Donegal, however, has Yvonne Bonner back on their side and Geraldine McLaughlin (above) is one of the best strikers in the country.

Dublin: C Trant; L. Caffrey, N. Collins, M. Byrne; A Kane, S Goldrick, S McGrath; L Magee, J Dunne; N Healy, N McEvoy, C Rowe; S. Aherne (Capt.), L. Davey, S. McCaffrey.

Donegal: Ein McColgan; D Foley, E Gallagher, E McGinley; N. Carr, C. Hegarty, N. McLaughlin; K Herron, Y Bonner; K. Guthrie, N. Hegarty, A. Boyle Carr; N Boyle, G McLaughlin (Capt.), N McLaughlin.

Cavan v Kerry, St. Brendan’s Park, Birr, 1 p.m.

Cork will start as a favorite at the top of this group, but Cavan and Kerry are capable of delivering great displays.

Kerry will face Cork in Round 2, and winning for the Kingdom here would prepare them well for a jump against their big rivals in Munster.

Kerry flew in Division 2 of the Lidl National League before competition was restricted and there was real class in her striker division.

Cavan has the three Sheridan sisters – Mona, Aishling and Geraldine – on their Start 15 and they are going to need all their experience and expertise to make sure the Breffni girls are there with a hoot here.

Cavan will have to work hard to take down a deadly Kerry in line. Former underage star Síofra O’Shea (above) is dying to take her chance to impress.

Cavan: E Walsh; N. Byrd (Capt.), S. Lynch, J. Moore; M. Sheridan, N. Keeneghan, E. Corcoran; D Englisch, C Dolan; C. Finnegan, L. McVeety, A. Gilsenan; G Sheridan, A Sheridan, T O’Reilly.

Kerry: C Butler; C Lynch, A Desmond, S Murphy; N Carmody, A O’Connell, C Murphy; L Scanlon, M O’Connell; D O’Leary, N Ní Chonchúir, A Galvin (Capt.); H O’Donoghue, S O’Shea, L Ní Mhuircheartaigh.
