Previous FPL Gameweek 6 Team News: Injury Updates on De Bruyne,...

The first deadline for the Fantasy Premier League on Friday night of the season is just around the corner. We’re bringing you a bonus news article this week that comes out earlier than usual and keeps a close eye on the last-minute chaos tomorrow.

The managers of Leeds United, Aston Villa, Fulham, Brighton and Hove Albion, Sheffield United, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion held their official press conferences ahead of Gameweek 6 on either Wednesday or Thursday, featuring Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers Media after their UEFA Europa League draw later that evening.

So far, however, the headlines about injuries have not come from one of these press representatives, but from an interview that Carlo Ancelotti conducted with everton.tv.

We’ll summarize the major updates below.

EVERTON

Carlo Ancelotti will face the broader media on Friday but he has already dropped an injury bomb in an internal interview that reveals this James Rodriguez (Knock) is a big doubt about the clash with Southampton.

Seamus Coleman (Thigh) is also out, his manager says:

Unfortunately James [Rodriguez] had a problem during the [Liverpool] Game. He had the wrong tackle with Virgil van Dijk. I think he won’t be available for the Southampton game.

Seamus Coleman had an injury during that [Liverpool] Game, I think he’ll be out for two or three weeks. Jonjoe Kenny is back, he started training yesterday and I think he will be available for the next game.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE / EUROPA LEAGUE CLUB UPDATES

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola will face the media again on Friday but there were notable comments from Liverpool and Manchester City managers following Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League games.

On Sadio Mane Klopp had an ice pack on his leg after it was replaced.

Sadio has had a dead leg for a few days and is taking care of it in this area. That’s the only reason it’s still painful, but it’s not a problem. When he’s not playing, he puts ice on it.

Guardiola’s comments after the game raised the prospect of Kevin De Bruyne (Muscle) and Aymeric Laporte (Muscle) in Gameweek 6, although by now Fernandinho (Leg) has been excluded for up to six weeks and Nathan Ake (Groin area) has a “wobble”.

I think kevin [De Bruyne] and [Aymeric] Laporte will start training tomorrow. But I don’t know what it will be like tomorrow and in the next few days. We will see.

It’s bad news [for Fernandinho]. There is a problem in his leg. I think he’ll be out for four to six weeks. It’s a tough blow for us with the amount of games.

De Bruyne and Laporte were actually seen in pictures released by the club on Thursday.

Jamie Vardy (Calf), Dani Ceballos (Ankle) and Willian (Calf) will miss their respective clubs’ Europa League games on Thursday and will be judged ahead of the clash between Arsenal and Leicester City on Sunday.

Rob Holding (Hamstring) is three weeks off for the Gunners Shkodran Mustafi (Thigh) is fully in training again and is available for selection.

Eric Bailly looks like Manchester United are on the sidelines meanwhile.

LEEDS UNITED

Marcelo Bielsa said that budget FPL defenders Pascal Struijk will replace Kalvin Phillips (Shoulder) in midfield for the trip to Aston Villa on Friday. Liam Cooper (Groin area) is still a doubt Diego Llorente (Muscle) stays outside.

On Phillips, Bielsa said:

It is not defined how long it will be out. It could be more or less [than six weeks]. And the one who will play in his place is Pascal Struijk.

When asked if his squad was too small, the Leeds boss added:

The squad is not small as we have two players per position. For example we have Bamford and Roberts [up front], Moreno and Pablo [in attacking midfield], Costa and Poveda [on the right], Raphinha und Harrison [on the left].

With the exception of Bamford and Cooper, almost all of them play in more than one position. The wingers play on both sides, the full-backs often do too, and the defensive midfielders can act as center-backs.

ASTON VILLA

Reservestürmer Keinan Davis (Calf) is expected to train and fight again for Aston Villa’s clash with Leeds on Thursday Kortney home (Muscle) stays outside and joins long-term absenteeism Wesley (Knee) and Tom Heaton (Knee) on the sidelines.

Dean Smith, meanwhile, said of his defense improvement:

I feel like Matt Cash’s energy and enthusiasm made us better. Ezri Konsa just got better and together with Tyrone they have a really good understanding now. Matt Targett has really improved and [we have] the persistence behind them by Emi.

SHEFFIELD UNITED

Chris Wilder has confirmed that Jack O’Connell (Knee) is out for the season and appreciated that Lys Mousset (Toe) will be back in the grass in six to eight weeks.

John Fleck (back) will be out for the next month while the blades await a medical report Max Lowewho suffered a concussion in the game against Fulham last week.

The Sheffield United boss said of Rhian BrewsterStartchancen:

It was a tough decision last week when I talked about it, but he put himself in the frame to be there for the weekend and start. He is at the forefront of our thinking.

His natural ability and talent are there, we’ve seen that, but it’s just the physical and fitness side that doesn’t open him up too early to injury.

There’s always a decision on timing – it was light and bubbly and on our minds to start on Saturday night.

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Re-signature Danny Welbeck being checked for match fitness as a goalkeeper prior to Brighton’s clash with West Brom Christian Walton is also back in training after recovering from an ankle injury last season.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh (Hamstring) and Jose Izquierdo (Match Fitness) That being said, the fitness situation for the seagulls is rosy.

Graham Potter said:

Just Alireza, who has just recovered from his Achilles tendon. Didn’t train today so we’ll see how he is doing tomorrow and the days to come. So he’s probably the doubt at the moment, everyone else seems fine.

Jose Izquierdo has another spell with the U-23s tomorrow to build up some playing time. Apart from that, we are fully fit.

[Welbeck] had two good days of training with us and there will be two more sessions before the game.

He’s been in really good shape and we’re thrilled to see how he fits into the group on and off the pitch. We’ll make a decision on Danny for Monday.

Lewis Dunk a three-game ban begins.

BURNLEY

1

Sean Dyche brought us up to date on fitness with the Clarets and said:

Matt Lowton is making good progress so he is considered. Erik Pieters managed to get through the game (at West Brom) but he has a minor calf injury so he’s a doubt – safe, touch and walk I think.

Ben Mee is getting better. He’s not there yet, but he’s back on the grass. It’s going to take a long time because it’s been gone for a long time, so we need to take care of this page.

Jack Cork (Ankle), Bailey Peacock-Farrell (Hip) and Phil Bardsley (Illness) stay outside with Mee.

FULHAM AND WEST BROMWICH ALBION

Scott Parker told reporters on Thursday:

Injuries practically stay the same. Harrison Reed has been training with us for the past few days.

Kenny Tete (Calf), Josh Onomah (not specified), Terence Kongolo (Foot) and Joachim Andersen (Ankles) stay outside.

Slaven Bilić will be without Sam Field for “four to five weeks” after the midfielder sustained a left knee injury.
