Ehab Galal has returned for a second stint in charge of Egyptian Premier League side Misr El-Makkasa, the club has confirmed.

The 52-year-old was sacked just a few days ago from his position as Al Masry manager and was replaced by Tarek El-Ashry.

However, he is now set to return back to El-Makkasa, despite the club appointing Nigerian head coach Emmanuel Amunike less than a month ago.

Amunike led the team in two games, drawing them both against Smouha and Entag El-Harby, and now he will depart the club after a very short spell.

El-Makkasa preferred to reappoint Galal, who is considered to be the club’s most successful manager since their promotion to the top tier in 2009.

Galal coached El-Makkasa between 2014 and 2017, leading the team to finish second in the league in 2017, which secured them a spot in the CAF Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

He then departed the club to join ENPPI, before signing for Zamalek, Al Ahly Tripoli, and finally Al Masry.

El-Makkasa is having a really disappointing season as they currently sit 16th on the league table with 14 points from 17 games, just three away from bottom-placed FC Masr. They were also knocked out of the Egypt Cup in the round of 16 by El-Gaish.
