MAGPIES PUT STARS ON THE TRADING DESK

Collingwood reportedly said wingman Tom Phillips is happy to trade him off this off-season.

The 24-year-old ended up in the top seven of the best and fairest magpies in 2018 and 2019, but was pushed aside in 2020.

IT ISSam Edmund reports that the Magpies are “open” to helping Phillips find a new home. In the middle of last year he signed a new contract and is still bound for the club for 2021.

The Pies are trying to overcome a backlog in new signings. Darcy Moore has re-signed but they are yet to bans players like Jordan De Goey and Brody Mihocek.

Trading Phillips could therefore help create some leeway.

Phillips had an off-season, spending time with a half-forward and ending his season on lap 15 with a hamstring injury.

The Herald Sun. Geelong was interested in Phillips last year but refused to consider a deal.

SAINTS MAY HAVE A CRACK IN THE KEY FORWARD

St. Kilda is said to be weighing a late offer from Collingwood’s leading goalkicker Brody Mihocek, but a conflicting report suggests he will sign again.

sevenMark Stevens reported Wednesday morning that the Saints were trying to lure Mihocek over.

“I hear St. Kilda wants to give Brody Mihocek a crack – he would be perfect there. Watch this room on the saint, ”he continued RSN 927.

however IT ISSam Edmund expects the Magpies to lock the key to a three-year contract soon.

“I think Brody Mihocek will stay (in Collingwood),” he told SEN Whateley.

“You’re going through the details and he has the three-year deal ahead of him.”

Mihocek and the Magpies are said to be far apart financially last week.

The 27-year-old hasn’t made much money in his late-developing AFL career as he was a rookie draft pick in 2017.
