Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is keen on signing Mohamed Salah from Liverpool, reveals Ajax legend and Koeman’s close friend Sjaak Swart.

The Egyptian forward had a dream start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, scoring a hattrick as Liverpool defeated Leeds United in a seven-goal thrilling encounter on Saturday.

It’s not the first time Salah has been the hero for the Reds as since his arrival at Anfield, he scored 97 goals in 154 appearances, helping them to four trophies, most notably the Champions League and the Premier League.

However Liverpool could lose the Egyptian soon as according to one of Koeman’s closes friends, Barcelona have made Salah their new top transfer target.

Speaking to voetbalzone.nl, Sjaak Swart said: “I know Koeman wants him – and I know Salah would like to go.”

When asked about the source of his information, he added: “I can’t. I am not going into any more details, but just believe me that I know.”

Sjaak Swart is a former Holland international and also Ajax’s record appearance holder and is considered to a very close friend to Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman.

However, with Lionel Messi now staying at Barcelona, it’s very unlikely that the Catalan giants would be able to raise the money to acquire the services of Salah.
