Saudi Arabia and Russia sign an agreement for cooperation in the military field

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation signed yesterday an agreement for cooperation in the military field in the Russian city of Kubinka, as part of the two governments’ continuous efforts to develop bilateral relations between the two countries in a way that encourages international peace and stability.

The government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was represented by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense, while the Government of the Russian Federation was represented by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant-General Alexander Fomin.

The signing ceremony was attended on the Russian side by Defense Minister Shoigu Sergey and from the Kingdom’s side, a number of Excellencies and senior officials in the Ministry of Defense.

Prior to signing the agreement, His Highness met the Russian Minister of Defense and discussed issues of common interest.

He also met with the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev, as part of his official visit to the Russian Federation, to participate in the International Military-Technical Forum “Army- 2021”.

Today, he also met with the Chairman of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugaev, the Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogandanov, and Chairman of the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky.

During the meetings, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and areas of military and defense cooperation, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the region, and files of common interest.

The Deputy Minister of Defense and his accompanying delegation left the Russian Federation this evening, heading to the Kingdom. He was seen off by: Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, the Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries, Eng. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, the Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs, Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Bayari, and Ambassador The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Russia, Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Ahmad, the military advisor to the Minister of Defense, Major General Talal Al-Otaibi, and the Saudi military attache to Russia, Brigadier General Saad Al-Kathiri.
