Saudi Arabia and Russia.. Signing a military cooperation agreement

Saudi Arabia and Russia signed an agreement for cooperation in the military field in the Russian city of Kubinka.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, this comes within the framework of the two governments’ continuous efforts to develop bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Russia in a way that encourages international peace and stability.

The Saudi side was represented by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Defense Minister, while the Russian side was represented by the Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Alexander Fomin.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Russian Minister of Defense Shoigu Sergei and by the Kingdom, by a number of senior Defense Ministry officials.

Prior to signing the agreement, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met with the Russian Minister of Defense and discussed issues of common interest.

They also discussed ways to enhance military and defense cooperation between the two countries and ways to maintain security and stability in the region.

He also met with the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev, as part of his visit to Russia to participate in the International Military-Technical Forum “Army- 2021”.

On Tuesday, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met with the Chairman of the Federal Authority for Military-Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugayev, the Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogandanov and Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma Leonid Slutsky.

During the meetings, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and areas of military and defense cooperation, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the region, and files of common interest.

After signing the agreement, the Saudi Deputy Defense Minister said on Twitter that the Kingdom and Russia had signed an agreement aimed at developing areas of joint military cooperation between the two countries.

The Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense and his accompanying delegation left this evening, Tuesday, Russia for the Kingdom, where he was seen off by Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, the Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries, Engineer Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, and the Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs, Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Biyari, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ ambassador to Russia, Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Ahmad, and others.
