Egypt welcomes Saudi “senior scholars” warning of “Brotherhood terrorism”

Religious scholars, parliamentarians and religious bodies in Egypt praised the statement of the Council of Senior Scholars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in which it warned against “cooperation or sympathy with (the terrorist Brotherhood).”
Dr. Mahmoud Muhanna, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars in Al-Azhar, told Asharq Al-Awsat, “The warning of the top scholars in Saudi Arabia came in a timely fashion, and it will limit the group’s incitement and violence.” An observatory affiliated with the Dar al-Iftaa in Egypt confirmed that “the statement of the top Saudi scholars about the group, which conceals religion and practices what contradicts it in terms of discord and stirring up discord and violence, is the last chapter in the history of this group.”
The Egyptian government has banned the “Brotherhood” since December 2013. It has been considered a “terrorist group”, after accusing it of “being involved in the violence that took place since the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi, who belonged to the group.” Hundreds of leaders and supporters of the group, headed by General Guide Mohamed Badie, are currently undergoing trials in cases, most of which are related to incitement to violence, some of which have been sentenced to death and “hard and hard” imprisonment.
In turn, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, advisor to the Mufti of Egypt, Secretary-General of “The Role and Authorities of Ifta in the World,” which is a specialized international body based in the Egyptian House of Ifta, stressed that “The International Secretariat for Iftaa appreciates the reliance of the Senior Scholars Council in the Kingdom on its court-related reasons for expiry To judge the deviation of this group, including its destabilization, breaking with rulers of the matter, and its endeavor to stir up strife in the countries wherever it resides, and to undermine coexistence in a single homeland. Knowledge and action ”, pointing out in this context that“ since the founding of the group, there has been no interest in it for the Islamic faith, nor for the sciences of the book and the Sunnah, ”he said. Yesterday, the advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt indicated “the danger of the group’s manipulation of religion, and the departure of all terrorists from its womb. The Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia had warned, in a statement, the day before yesterday, “against (the Muslim Brotherhood) and from belonging to it or sympathizing with it.” The organization affirmed that “(the Brotherhood) is a terrorist group that does not represent the approach of Islam, but rather pursues its partisan goals that contradict the guidance of our true religion, disguise religion, and practices discord, stirring up strife, violence and terrorism that violates it.”
And in March 2014, Saudi Arabia announced the “Brotherhood” group with “Al Qaeda”, “Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula”, “Al Qaeda in Yemen”, “ISIS”, “Jabhat Al Nusra” and “Party God ”inside Saudi Arabia, and the“ Houthi group ”; “Terrorist organizations and entities,” it is forbidden to belong to and support them, sympathize with them or promote them, or hold meetings under their umbrella.
Dr. Muhanna added: “I salute Saudi Arabia for the statement of warning against (Brotherhood) terrorism,” stressing that “Islam is a religion in which there are no groups, divisions or parties, because God said: (Today I have perfected your religion for you and completed my blessing on you and accepted Islam for you), and the Prophet prayed God and peace be upon him warned against the sects and groups, ”adding that“ (the Brotherhood), (ISIS) and (Al-Qaeda) all offended Islam before its enemies offended it. ”
On the impact of the “Saudi warning” on the group in the future, Muhanna said: “There is no doubt that warning against (Brotherhood) terrorism will limit the group’s activities, violence, and incitement during the coming period. Where the enemies of Islam exploit the elements of the group to insult Islam ».
Regarding the Kingdom’s warning not to belong to the group or sympathize with it, Mhanna stressed that this warning “came on time, because no one joins this group except for every ignorant who does not understand Islam,” declaring his strong support for “Saudi Arabia’s warning against joining the group or sympathizing with it.”
According to Dr. Amna Naseer, a member of the Egyptian House of Representatives (parliament) and a professor of faith and philosophy at Al-Azhar University, “the Saudi warning against (Brotherhood) terrorism is a statement that deserves appreciation and praise.” Naseer told Asharq Al-Awsat that “this warning is a wonderful step for the stability of the region, and has stopped any sympathy for this group, which did not care for God in its claims of words and actions about Islam and Muslims, because a Muslim is the one who spares Muslims with his tongue and his hand,” adding that “he did Unfortunately, someone from the elements of this group, which has adopted violence and incitement as its method, recognizes one of its members.
It is noteworthy that the Court of Urgent Matters in Egypt banned the activities of the “Brotherhood” in 2013, and decided to seize all its real estate, liquid and movable funds. In addition, a decision was issued by the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt to dissolve the “Muslim Brotherhood Association”, in addition to a decision by the Cairo Criminal Court to include the name “Muslim Brotherhood Association” on the list of “terrorists”.
In the same context, the Observatory of Fatwas and Militant Opinions, affiliated to Dar Al Iftaa, explained that the statement of the Saudi Council of Senior Scholars “elaborated on clarifying all the characteristics of the group that offend Islam and Muslims As the group always seeks to divide societies and spread chaos, ”pointing out that“ incitement to riot and the practice of violence is an integral part of the group’s strategy. ”He also pointed out that“ the modern establishment of legitimizing violence with a religious overtones was at the hands of (the Brotherhood), beginning with good construction. The founder of the group, and the group soon branched out from the various terrorist groups, on whom Muslims now throw all kinds of killing and sabotage.
The Egyptian Fatwa Observatory stressed in a statement yesterday that “the statement of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia came after a long and careful study of the methodology and thought of the group, which, as stated in the statement, has been proven to affect the unity of the ranks in order to achieve the group’s self-interests, which have nothing to do with Islam. », Calling on various bodies, institutions and religious councils in the countries of the Islamic world to“ criminalize and prohibit (the Brotherhood) and disavow it. ”
