In light of the campaign to boycott French goods in Islamic and Arab countries, after French President Emmanuel Macron’s insult to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad, Carrefour stores in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kuwait issued statements explaining their position on the campaign.

The “Saudi Carrefour” store said in a statement that 95% of its products are sourced from local suppliers, pointing out that its ownership belongs to the UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim Company.

He added, “Carrefour provides more than 2,800 direct and indirect job opportunities, and we are proud that Saudi citizens represent 40% of the work team.”

He called for “supporting a culture of tolerance and respect for all personal and religious beliefs in the local community.”

In turn, Carrefour stores Kuwait and Jordan published two statements on their official page, in which they clarified the number of job opportunities they provide, in addition to the percentages of supply from local suppliers.
