The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Saudi Secretariat of the G20 are organizing the International Forum for Social Innovation within the program of international conferences held on the sidelines of the year of the Kingdom’s Presidency of the G20, in cooperation with the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monsha’at) and an initiative launched by the Ithmaar Social Investment Company, according to SPA.

The forum – to be held hypothetically on the first and second of November 2020 – aims to spread the culture of social innovation at all local and international levels from the third sector institutions, the private sector, research centers, educational institutions and entrepreneurs, in order to enable social innovators to identify implementation tools, highlighting tools and methodologies. Developed in the field and creative ideas by holding dialogue sessions and attracting an elite of specialists and speakers at the local and international levels, as well as the opportunities to activate social innovation in all concerned sectors and highlight innovators and successful experiences, in addition to activating global partnerships regionally, in addition to being a dynamic platform For social innovation to learn about best practices and solutions and provide opportunities for cooperation at all local and international levels.
The conference will address several axes, the most prominent of which are: educational programs specialized in social innovation, the role of educational institutions in this, methodologies of systemic thinking, highlighting the private sector and the importance of its role in the fields of innovation, in addition to the best initiatives to finance social innovation. It will also focus on the Arab world, youth and women empowerment and the role of the economy. It will also be concerned with the future of this field after Corona and the paths of intersection of technology with social innovation.
In order to expand the circle of international interest in the forum, the International Forum for Social Innovation signed strategic partnerships with international organizations such as ASHOKA, an international organization concerned with promoting social entrepreneurship, in addition to the SIX organization concerned with societal issues specialized in inspiring societies to use innovation to increase social impact and interested in building and developing societies. It requires everyone to be change-makers together to support change-making for the benefit of society.
This comes in realization of the Kingdom’s vision 2030, which aims to promote and support a culture of social innovation and increase the contribution of small and medium enterprises in the economy, as well as effectively attracting appropriate global talent and enhancing companies’ fulfillment of their social responsibilities, in addition to supporting the growth of the non-profit sector and enabling non-profit organizations to achieve a deeper impact.
