The Saudi Center for Economic Business, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Culture, organized a ceremony for signing agreements between investors from national companies and owners of Saudi coffee farms, in the presence of the Deputy Governor of Jazan Region Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz bin Muhammad bin Abdulaziz, and with the participation of the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors Saudi Economic Works, Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul-Rahman Al-Fadhli, and Mayada Badr, CEO of the Culinary Arts Authority.

The agreements aim to highlight at least 3 brands bearing the historical legacy of more than 300 years in coffee cultivation in the Kingdom, and to contribute to raising the local production rate from 2% to 10% within 5 years, and to link producers, coffee growers and investors with e-commerce platforms, markets and specialized events.

The agreements aim to strengthen cooperation between national companies and coffee farmers in well-known local areas, including Khawlani coffee farms, through the companies’ commitment to purchase coffee crops to ensure the sustainability of production, enhance its market share to compete locally and globally, and to enhance their participation in the prosperity of the Kingdom’s agricultural wealth.

The cooperation of government agencies comes with the aim of improving agricultural practices, developing model farm standards and linking them to the logistical supply chain, in light of the focus on improving productivity and adherence to quality specifications in accordance with international standards.

The potential parties represented by the Agricultural Development Fund and the Social Development Bank shall provide the necessary financing to serve national products and enhance the regions’ competitive advantage.

The signing ceremony was accompanied by the organization of the Saudi coffee event, which included a special pavilion to display raw coffee products and their development journey to the final product, in addition to an open meeting to review the business model of the coffee sector in front of the participating parties, and to adopt communication channels to address challenges and identify opportunities for developing the sector.
